Blingy Notebook

Here's an easy way to pass the time with your kids.
It's also an easy and inexpensive gift.
{It's a blingy notebook}
I have several birthdays coming up for several nieces. I decided since I am mostly bedridden this is one gift I can do ;)
You'll need several composition books. Now if you get them during the back to school sales you can get these for around 20 cents!! I usually stock up because I love to keep journals and design ideas in them.
You'll need some scrapping paper, mod podge, foam brush, damp rag to clean your hands, different embellishments such as buttons, ribbons, blingy things, etc. Scissors and/or paper cutter, chipboard letters or a die cutter.
Now I wanted to make a little special notebook for my niece who turns 9 this year and is a HUGE Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift fan. I decided to make her notebook with a couple of pockets inside.

Before and in progress: make an easy pocket for your tag out of coordinating paper and glue to the front. Make sure you trace around your tag unto the paper and leave about 1/2 inch of clearance so the tag can be pulled in and out.

It's so easy really. I first measured and cut my cardstock and glued it on with the mod podge. I bought the regular mod podge and I was afraid it was going to curl. And it did. So for the next one I am using the Mod Podge for paper in matte.

It still turned out cute. But just a word of advice buy the paper one for paper and the fabric one for fabric DUH!!

After covering the entire notebook, front and back I let it dry. In the meantime I started to do the layout on the table. I decided to cut out the word DREAM from my Cricut and Gypsy. I used the Gypsy font. I knew I wanted to use a lot of purples and pinks.

I used to manila office tags and removed the twine string and added ribbon. I printed off a couple of pictures of Bieber and Swift and cut them to fit the tags. I mod podged them onto the tags and set them aside.
(Once everything is dry go over it all again with the paper mod podge to seal and make it more durable.)

Photo tag can also be used as bookmark

Now that the paper covering is dry, I went back and glued some printed scrap paper over any imperfections ;) I glued the DREAM word to the right hand side. I added flowery embellishments along with some bling. All these items can be bought at any crafting store. The card stock and flower 3d embellishments were from Target. The bling came for free in my Mighty Mend it order :)

I also glued the inside front and back covers. I mod podged all over the dried on pieces to seal them. I put some purple ribbon on the spine of the notebook.

I let it dry and I gotta say I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Even if I did use the wrong Mod Podge. I think she'll enjoy it.

Next, I'll be making a Pokemon notebook for her older sister.
Shhhh...don't tell.

I think this project would be great for a cub scout activity and girl's camp. Imagine the possibilities with this inexpensive notebook. You could even print out pictures of camp and glue them all over the front cover!! A fun memento from a child's summer :)
Happy Crafting!
