Ye Ole Cabinet Door (How To)

So my husband and I share a little addiction: We like to pick up trash. No, not as in "trashy" people but as in other people's trash :) The hubster is a handyman extraordinaire around these here parts, and whenever there is demolish involved, he often gets to keep the trash he demolishes (lucky us, huh?...no I mean it, we're lucky like that) Oftentimes I go into our treasure trove of junk otherwise known as the garage (pfffftt who needs to store CARS in there not us!) and look for things to use in my crafting projects. I noticed he has been saving (hiding) some cabinet doors from me and I quickly swiped one of them. I've always wanted to have one of them chalkboard message centers in our kitchen but for some reason the builder made this kitchen with very few walls but pleeeenty of windows! So what to do? Make a little message center out of that door and hang it on another door! JEANIUS you say! Well me too! These are the things you'll need:

Stress Release and a New Tute {Magnetic Board}

These past few weeks have brought a lot of turmoil and challenges for my family. Suffice it to say that being a parent of a teen and young adult is NOT an easy task. Many people told me when my kids were younger to enjoy them because it would all change in a few years. Boy were they right!! But of course, at the time, all I could think of was "not MY kid" he/she is perfect!! There's a quote from one of the leaders of my church that says "If you think your child can do no wrong, just you wait." Truer words haven't been spoken. Aaaaannnnyyways... on to the crafting because nothing cures the blues best than a good ole fashion craftin' night.. (well that and a bottle of Jack Daniels, but since I don't drink..glue, paint and fabric work well too. ) Several years ago at my church's ladies Super Saturday ( a smorgasborg of crafting) we made these cute little doodads called magnetic boards (cue ahhhhs). It's simply a thin piece of sheet metal glued

Spray Painting {Junk}

If you know me, you know I love JUNK I love the transformation of crap I've found by somebody's curb into something useful :) This weekend I did a LOT of spray painting. You see I've had these really crappy, green and brown, metal plant stands that were just in my garage. Well today I decided they were going to get a makeover OPRAH STYLE! SO I SET UP MY PAINTING STATION under the dratted willow tree. I threw down some tarps on the grass and covered up my folding table with another and gathered up all my victims. I had me a stash of some pretty good spray paints to work with. First up was this planter stand that I've had forever! I quickly wiped it clean with a damp rag and got to work. I used Krylon's Black glossy paint for plastics and vinyl. I prefer the Krylon brand of paint because of its nozzle. It is easier for me to work with and doesn't stain my finger as much {when I forget to wear my disposable gloves AGGGHHH} {after} Onward I also spray painte

Whirlwind Weekends

Lately it seems like every Saturday is a whirlwind at our house. All the week's chores get done on Saturday. Laundry, cleaning the house, working on the backyard, gardening, running errands, playdates, swimming lessons, ay ya yay!!! I tell you, I can't wait till the summertime! {We are planning on taking a week long trip to Florida and I can't wait!! I can't wait to lie on a beach somewhere and just be .Sigh.} For instance, this past weekend my daughter, whom I call "My Girl" had an art thing downtown for our annual Art Walk. She was to draw on the sidewalk with chalk. Then they were to be judged and select a winner from all the entries (we have yet to hear from them to see who won?!) {Ellison Martinez Art} So me and the boys moseyed on downtown (which if you haven't been to downtown McKinney, Texas, I urge you to come down, it is SO COOL). Not only did we check out the competition {some very talented artists} but we stopped by my favorite
