Ant Farm!!

For the past month, Ellison has had to sleep in the game room because of an infestation of ants in her room!! These aren't your common every day ants. Until last winter I had no idea there were so many different types of ants. This is what I googled: Habitat, Food Source(s), Damage: Mouthparts are for chewing. Pharaoh ants are omnivorous, feeding on sweets (jelly, particularly mint apple jelly, sugar, honey, etc.), cakes and breads, and greasy or fatty foods (pies, butter, liver and bacon). Nests can be found outdoors and almost anywhere indoors (light sockets, potted plants, wall voids, attics, in any cracks and crevices) particularly close to sources of warmth and water. Pest Status: The most commonly occurring indoor ant in Texas; in hospitals, it can be a carrier of more than a dozen pathogenic bacteria including Staphylococcus, Salmonella, Pseudomonas and Clostridium; these ants do not sting or and usually do not bite. Easter Fun! 2009

This Easter weekend we went to my brother in law's Jody's farewell party at his parents'. They live out in Anna, in a beautiful 100 acre property. They have cattle and a fishing lake, a beaver dam, etc. It was so much fun! The kids got to fish and pop fireworks. I got a tour of the country and go to meet several "neighbors" along the way. It was a great time. On Sunday, we went to church and upon returning home I made lasagna and we read some scriptures. I have a Children's Bible that I read from to Aaron with pictures and simpler words so he can understand what I am talking about. I read to him some stories about the Savior and how He did not get "killed" but lovingly gave His life for us. It is important that my children understand that Jesus chose to give up his life for us and that it wasn't taken from Him. What a wonderful Sunday. As we read the scriptures I could feel the Spirit very strong in our home. We are praying for another mission

Adventure Landing Fun

Last weekend was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday. My nieces had their birthday party early since their dad will be leaving for the Army soon. They had their celebration at Adventure Landing. This is a place that has laser tag, putt putt, go carts and bumper boats. We've had our kids' birthday parties here in the past and it's lots of fun. The kids all got to eat cake (2 cakes) and play video games, earn tickets for prizes then go outside and enjoy the sunshine! I love having fun outside. I can't believe how quickly time flies. My nieces are turning 7 and 9 this summer! Pretty soon they'll be young ladies and we'll be partying with teenagers. It's great to be able to blog about this and scrapbook all these fun memories. Happy early birthday Vivian and Victoria :)
