Spiffying Up the Front Porch and Click and Chat Link Up Party

Happy Summer! I've been pretty busy around here finishing up all my projects. First up the Sofa is done!! I have started on my coffee table project next and I can't wait to share it with you. In the meantime, I decided to paint my front door, the kickplate and add some snazzy address numbers to the door.   Before: You can see that I had already given it the new coat of  black paint. I simply took black paint that I had and added unsanded grout to create the chalk paint. I gave it about three coats, letting it dry in between. Then I applied dark wax. I first painted the kickplate with chalk paint  Then I gave it two coats with this: I pretty happy with the way it looks. I simply cut out the stencil with my Cricut and used the same metallic paint I had on hand.  Now it's your turn to show me what you got by joining our click and chat party!! Vintage Sofa Reupholster Project

It's already a scorcher here in North Texas. Have I mentioned that I really don't like summer time? Well in case you missed it-I don't. What I do like is getting myself into as many DIY projects as possible at one time! Yeah.  The doozy has been this vintage sofa that I so crazily took upon myself to recover.  I talked about it here in this post: How to Reupholster a Vintage Sofa   and let's just say I ran into some snags. First  I found out that the seat cushions were made up of a wooden frame and real springs!  So I had to improvise quick and I ordered some upholstery foam from good ole' Amazon.com :) Then I had my mom just make me the seat covers.  Here it is: Before and  After As you can see I still hadn't put the other piece of molding on the right arm. I will take some more pics of it with some cute little pillows I'm working on.  I learned quite a bit from this project, such as : Cutting foam is

High Chair Re-do {Jenny Lind}

Well hello, howdy and hey! It's been a while but I am back.  I'm taking the summer off to spend with the kiddos and make some good memories. Of course, I'll be busy sprucing up my space. I finally finished the vintage sofa.  I'll take some good pics tomorrow to show you all. I have some cute pillow covers to show you and how I made them too.  For now, I'll share the Jenny Lind high chair I scored for my grandbaby! I've been wanting one of these for her for the looongest time. Finally, I found it for a steal on one of those facebook garage sale pages. Do you have them where you live? I am totally hooked on those and I have found so many bargains, as well as sold so much of my stuff.  Here's the before: I simply made my own chalk paint in a pretty red color that my hubby picked out.  All you need is a quart and that itself will last you a long, long time. To make your own chalk paint you can just click on this po
