Road to Becoming a Professional Actor

Hello everyone! I hope you've had a great week. We've been having some beautiful weather here in the Dallas area, let's hope it lasts!  Last week I talked about how my son, Aaron, has had a dream of being a professional actor since the age of 5.  And how we came across this magnificent school that he now attends. The Dallas Young Actors School trains your child and teen on a real soundstage to prepare them for TV and film work. This is not theater. We learned a lot from Ms. Linda Seto, the founder of the Dallas YAS about the differences between acting for the stage (far away) and TV/film (hello! camera close ups)  In the three years he's been a student, Aaron has improved his acting skills and has experienced so much personal growth!  The summer camps are a great way to train. They are filling up fast! Think SNL on fast track! At the end of the week, the students are taped in front of a live studio audience.  There is nothing like this in the country...

Kids Summer Activities-Dallas Acting Camp

Kids Summer Activities I'm back today to talk some more about the Summer acting camp that my son will attend. It is being offered by his acting school Dallas Young Actors Studio in Dallas. It is an intense, week-long, acting camp that prepares your actor for the real world of working on a sound stage in front of a live studio audience. They actually tape the TV pilot, and you can be in the audience! How cool is that?  There are several sessions being offered and because it's the only acting camp of its kind it gets filled quickly! You can get more info here: https://www.dallasyas.com/summer-camps/ Aaron taped in last summer's TV Pilot called Welcome to Willowbrook Way. He played a very "misunderstood" character called "Mr. Keller".  You can see some of his scenes on his IG <<click here It's important for young actors to build a resume with actual experience and not just training. At Dallas YAS your young actor will gai...

Following Your Dreams -Summer Activities

My son Aaron is an aspiring actor. He has always wanted to act. As a child, he was constantly telling me he wanted to get his "face out there" and that "he was running out of time". He was 4 years old. I did not know where to take him to get his face out there as he requested. One day we googled kids acting schools dallas. Several websites came up but one in particular caught my eye. It was a story on a local TV channel about Dallas acting schools. The acting school is Dallas Young Actors Studio. This school is run by Linda Seto who has extensive experience in TV and production. Several kids have been discovered at her school and are actively working in Hollywood. If you want to learn more about the school you can go  here. So we went into Dallas and had Aaron audition to be placed in one of the classes. That was in 2017. He has loved every minute spent there! I have seen him grow and his self confidence increase like you wouldn't believe. He has acted in t...

Dallas Acting Summer Camps 2019

Dallas Acting Summer Camps Ahh the hot days of summer. All of us are waiting for them aren't we? When the kids are home from school for summer vacay. Wait? No. We need to keep these kids busy! Isn't that what we are all thinking for the summer? I've always been a great believer in supporting our children to explore new things. One of those things can be acting!  I haven't been blogging for a while because life!  But one thing's for sure, we have been busy. My son Aaron is an actor. He has been training at the prestigious Dallas Young Actors Studio in Dallas. And I tell you the growth he has experienced is tremendous. This is no regular acting school. It's real world training in a real studio with a sound stage and real professionals. This is NOT theater.  If you want your child to train to be a real actor for TV and/or film THIS is the place to be.  Dallas Young Actors Studio   offers coaching and training to be a professional actor.  ...

BIZ for the Holidays and Getting Ready for Christmas

**This is a sponsored post** Hey everyone! I'm excited to be back and share with you some ideas for Holiday prep. It's been a whirlwind the last few months, especially with work and my photography business.  So anywho, I haven't even put up my tree yet :( While I was cleaning out some things from my garage, I noticed I had some very pretty white tablecloths that had yellowed over time. I wanted to use them to set my holiday table.  I almost threw them out until I remembered I could use BIZ to whiten them. I brought them inside and filled my washing machine with hot water.  I poured in about half a cup of BIZ Stainfighter and threw in the table cloths. I let them soak for about 30 minutes then ran them through a regular cycle.  They came out so white and clean!  I'm so happy I remembered I had BIZ and didn't throw them out.  BIZ is the stain fighting, whitening solution for all your laundry needs.  You can find more ...

BIZ IS THE STAIN FIGHTER-LAUNDRY TIPS

This is a sponsored post As you may already know, I am a photographer on my off days.  I do a lot of family photography and this often involves small children, which many times requires me to kneel down on gravel, grass, etc. Needless to say my jeans take quite a beating. (Thank goodness for the torn jeans craze right?) To get those tough stains out, I just put a little bit of Biz stain fighter on the grass stain, rub it in a bit, and let it soak for about 5-10 minutes. I then run it through the wash with Biz as the detergent and voila!  The stain is gone! I recently had to do this with a favorite t shirt I splattered with spaghetti sauce. AGH! I hadn't realized it until I got home and I thought for sure the shirt was ruined.  Nope, I did the same thing, dab, rub, sit and wash it as usual. T shirt is as good as new. Now you know that those greasy stains are harder to get out. With Biz stain fighter detergent it's as easy as 1-2-3. I highly...

Entry Bench Transformation with Milk Paint

Hello friends: It's been awhile :) I've been so busy with life and work. Well you know how that goes. I have been meaning to share with y'all this really cute project I finished, way back in the Spring. Yikes. I wanted to put a cute little bench of some sort right outside our front door of the apartment. It's not the brightest spot but I thought I could liven it up a bit with something.  I got this little bench on one of the Facebook garage sales.  Then the good folks from The Real Milk Paint Company graciously offered me a couple of samples! Yay! I knew I wanted a fun color so I picked the gorgeous Beach Glass.  It's a pretty blue that would add a nice punch of color to my drab entry.  Milk paint is a really good paint to use for those projects where you want a nice distressed look or you can do several coats to make it look more "polished". The choice is yours. Plus because it's milk paint it doesn't have that awful paint smell or ...
