Thankful in Every Possible Way

This entire week has been filled to the brim with stuff to be thankful for. I got three days off from work and got to spend some much needed time with the kids. I am thankful for paid holidays :)
On Thanksgiving day, we went to our usual place up in Pottsboro,TX-the Tanglewood Resort & Spa. And let me tell ya there ain't nothin' else like it :D
It's wonderful to be able to relax and not think about the menu, or cooking or cleaning afterwards. We get to dress up (if we want) and take a beautiful drive up to the resort and eat to our hearts content! As a child, my grandfather always treated us to a sumptuous Thanksgiving feast at one of the local hotels and then another one for Christmas Day. I have wonderful memories of the whole family sitting around talking and eating, and talking and eating....you get the picture.
I want to create those same memories for our kids. My grandma comes up every year just to join us and last year my sister and her family joined us for lunch there too.

The drive up there is beautiful. And the food....my goodness, there is so much to choose from. Turkey, Salmon, Roast Beef, Grilled Chicken, finger sandwiches, salads, all kinds of side dishes and they even have a kid sized buffet!! I tell you, it's not a splurge at all!! I would spend more money buying all the ingredients and having the headache of cleaning afterwards.

Sorry the pics copied so tiny! It's a LOT of food

Then on Friday we celebrated Aaron's baptism :) In our church, when a child turns 8 he/she can choose to be baptized. Aaron made the decision back in August, and we scheduled it in November hoping my sister and her family could come, but they couldn't :(
We had a great time anyways and it was such a spiritual experience. Aaron asked to have some of his favorite snacks to be served as refreshments afterwards. His picks: Cookies, gummy kabobs, chips and dips.
The Gummy Kabobs were a hit! Every kid and my grandma wanted one. They were so easy to make. Basically a bamboo skewer and gummies! We then wrapped them in cellophane bags and put a ribbon around them.

with Brother Shields who baptized him and Sergio who confirmed him

Aaron loves to make silly faces and it took a few tries to get this one
but notice my grandma was looking down

After all the festivities-we had YET one more thing to celebrate! Our 23rd wedding anniversary (two more years 'til Silver baby!!)
On Saturday morning I woke up to the smell of these:

Attached to the roses, was a beautiful card with a poem inside :) This guy is very romantic.
We went to have some breakfast, just the two of us, then some holiday shopping. But the real treat was getting to go here for some good food and Salsa dancing! Gloria's

                                                            {Can you say SWANKY}

It's a wonderful place, but EXTREMELY popular. We had to wait for an hour to get a table. But our food was delicious and was delivered to us lightning fast! Then promptly at 11 o'clock, the floor was cleared of tables and chairs, the band started playing and people crowded the dance floor! Us included :)
I danced and danced with my skinny jeans and 4 inch heels (YEAH, I won't be trying that again anytime soon) and Sergio and I were taken back in time to when we were first dating, back in Laredo, dancing the night away at our high school dance. And here we are 25 years later (we dated for 2) still dancing!

Yes indeed-y SO much to be thankful for :)
