The day is finally here: Graduation Day for my sweetheart Ellison :)
It took every ounce of strength for me to get up and go to her commencement because earlier in the week I contracted STREP!!! AGGHHH!! I kept praying that I'd get better by Friday because I wasn't going to miss this for the world!
So Tuesday night I started to feel very weak and shaky. I don't know how I made it home from work that night but I got to my bed and collapsed. Two hours later I woke up with jagged glass in my throat! Or so I thought. I kept thinking I'll call the Dr. in the morning. But a little voice inside my head (don't you love that little voice?) said go to the Urgent Care Clinic NOW! So I stumbled out of bed and told Sergio to take me (don't you love it even more when you actually follow that little voice inside your head?)
So after a quick examination the DR. says it's not the flu (thank the LORD) but he says "You have Strep". The room starts to spin and I let out a whimper. By this time I am so weak I am almost passing out from the pain. I check out and now it's close to 10 p.m. so we have to find a 24 hr. pharmacy that isn't packed (yeah good luck with that)
We finally get one and we sit in the car outside waiting for 30 minutes to get my scripts.
I am so weak I can't even walk into the store. We finally get my meds and I get home and take them and pass out. Thank goodness I went that night b/c I would not have made it to Friday if I had waited one more day. Those precious few hours made a world of difference. Oh and a big shout out to the guy/girl who invented the cough/decongestant/narcotic liquid I was prescribed. Thank goodness for that tonic!! It helped me sleep and aleviated the excrutiating pain I was in :( See kids Narcotics are good for you when prescribed for an actual AILMENT and not for recreation >:/
Soooooo...come Friday I was a little stronger but excited to see my little KitKat graduate. We took a quick pic outside while Sergio was still inside getting ready.
ooops notice how my hair is in my mouth
but Ellison looks gorgeous as usual
With her brothers too :)
One with Parke (you can tell it's very sunny out)
I wanted a full length one and Aaron kept running around in the background and here he just stopped to look at ants and well...he's in the pic :)
There were over 600 students in her graduation class YIKES
Grads getting ready to go up to the stage and get diplomas
The graduate after the ceremony surrounded by family
With her Uncle Tony who brought her roses how thoughtful (since we forgot)
The next day we had a cookout at a local park that has a splash pad. Here's Aaron getting ready to run through the water.
Sergio looking at the fire behind him
That cool water really looked inviting and I really wanted to run through it once or twice but I was too busy swatting the million flies we attracted. Uggh...who invented flies and what purpose do they serve? None absolutely none, except annoying the heck of people that are trying to celebrate a GRADUATION!!
Ok, rant over.
Hee hee, I love taking candid shots of people ;) Here's Ellison and Parke ready to put the sausages on the grill.
All in all it was a great day! I had the stamina to get through the day and it wasn't hot at all underneath all those huge trees even though it was 101 degrees in the Dallas area YIKES!!
Welcome Summer!
Congratulations! What a great day!
ReplyDeleteCongratulatons! What beautiful pictures... and a bitter sweet day of pride and reflection, but looks like tons of fun!
