Here's why:

Gold exudes elegance (without going overboard and into gaudiness territory)
Gold invokes charm
Gold makes a room "pop".
And while I love oil rubbed bronze, stainless, nickel and wrought iron just as much as the next girl, gold will always have a place in my heart if used appropriately. Here's a few of my favorite uses of gold:
