My New Entry Table And More Chalk Paint

For the longest time, I've been wanting to replace the little curio cabinet I had right by my entry way. It was cute in the past, but it was way too small for this space. I looked and looked for just the right piece to put in there but I couldn't find anything. They were either too big, too small or way overpriced! So I told my hubby about it and he said "I can make you one!" Hurray! So I held out my arms and told  him I needed it  to be "this wide, this tall and this deep".  He took out his measuring tape and wrote things down. Thank goodness he had some extra pine wood in the garage! So our cost was nothing. That's the best price right? So are you ready to see what I have now? Isn't it cute? I love it! Who Likes Chalk Paint? I Do!

Well here we are at the end of yet another week in this extremely HOT summer and I am just wishing it were October! You too? And so I find myself doing a lot of things indoors. Things like painting some furniture. Oh ya! I love me some transformations and right now I am working on a little entry table my hubby made me. I can't wait to show you. I also have been working on finishing my two boys' bedrooms. You know how I roll, many projects at once.  Gotta love it. Make Cool Things with Maps {cards, tags, boys room decor}

Decorate With Maps As I was working on my little guy's room the other night, I got inspired to do some mappy crafts!! Since his room has an airplane theme, I decided to add some framed maps to his room decor. It was so easy and fun to do that I made some gift tags and cards as well! {just to have on hand you know}   These are very easy to make. I simply took my Atlas {which is a book of maps of the USA} and chose some cities I liked. I chose New York and Chicago. I then made copies on card stock.  Next, I simply took a tag I already had and used it as a template for my new map tags :) You simply punch a hole through the top and I tied some twine to them. Tada. Cute tags for my next gift.  I then decided to make use of the printed maps and put them on some cards.  I usually stop by the $1 spot at the store or at the dollar store and buy up some blank greeting cards. Fun Times with a Flashlight and Camera

Last weekend we had the great treat of having my nieces over for a sleepover. I say a treat because they live about 3 hours away and we all love having them over. Now, living with three guys, I crave the companionship of girls!! My own girl is always working and living her own life, that I barely have time to give her a hug anymore.  So that night, we were up late, of course, and I told them I wanted to try out a neat trick with my camera and a flashlight! So we went into my studio and set up the camera on a tripod and each kid took turns with the flashlight making shapes, etc. Here's the result:  Isn't this fun!!  All you do is set your camera's shutter speed very low to about 15s. Just prop it on a tripod or table and use the camera's self timer. It's important not to move right after you've drawn your object so that the image is captured by the camera.   We had lots of fun experimenting with lighter and darker backgrounds.  Go ahead...

Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific!!

The other day I was at the grocery's frozen food section and  right after I close the door to one of the freezers a young lady standing close by said to me "you smell really good." I thought it was my perfume but she went on to say it was my hair.  "Why thank you", I replied. As I was thinking about this on my way home and trying to remember which shampoo I  had used that morning I  recalled a shampoo in the 70s called "Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific" that my mom bought me to use. It DID smell good. Do you ladies remember it? {I know I'm showing my age here, but one of the buttons on the right hand side there says "Over 40 bloggers" ;) I then lamented as to why the manufacturer stopped selling this wonderful shampoo. And of course, being the person that I am and wanting to find out everything about anything I searched the web for an answer.  And guess what?  They are making it and selling this shampoo again! What Do You Dream About?

I had a dream last night that I was pregnant.  I was so happy and I knew it was going to be a girl. Many years ago, after the birth of our 3rd child, we were told that it would be simply to risky for me to have another child. So we took care of that, if you know what I mean. Now and then my husband and I think of what life would have been like with a 4th child. What would she have looked like? What would we have named her? Who would she resemble the most personality wise as  compared to her siblings? It's nice to dream and to think of things that may never come to pass. This is why last night's dream has SO much meaning to me. Remember when I mentioned that I was retiring from my accounting job? I did it mainly because after my stroke or  SAH I can  no longer function the way I used to.
