Super Saturday {I Can't Believe He's Not 8)

Yep. He's nearing the double digits. Nooooooo!!!!! Today my baby celebrated his 9th birthday. And boy did we CELEBRATE! This boy loves the ARMY. Ever since he was a baby, (wasn't that YESTERDAY?!) he's always wanted to be a soldier. Well today he can be. His theme is the Army. And Camo. And guns. Lots of guns. And as you walked in our front door you were extended a hearty and because partying is one must strike a serious pose Everything had to be decorated just so and ready for the guests to check in :) of course all soldiers need their helmets and canteens and don't forget the We also had to make our own that consisted of hot dogs and chips that our brave little soldiers could chow down in this snazzy And a party is just no fun without boys and They are so much fun I had to try my hand at them of course we had to decorate the rest of the house to lend to the ambience of the Army and after all the soldiers had reported for duty and were duly outfit...

Foodie Fridays {Muddy Apples}

I've lost count of which Foodie Friday this is All I know is that I've got a and that my sweet baby boy is turning 9 today! NINE!!! ((SNIFF, SNIFF)) He's no longer a baby.. So for his birthday party I am preparing him some yummy treats! these are oh-so-simple-to make and are my variation to candy apples. And since my little guy's theme tomorrow will be all about the army, well this just fits right in. First you're going to need some apples, popsicle sticks, chocolate for melting, food coloring, wax paper, ribbon and cello paper (these last two only if you're going to give these away) First let me tell you that I love getting the type of meltable candy that comes in a tray and you microwave it. It's oh so easy to clean up. And who doesn't love easy? I simply took one tray and colored the white chocolate green. I wanted the muddy apples to have "grass stains" Then I just melted the dark chocolate and smothered it all around the apple. I stuc...

Thankful Thursdays {When I Grow Up}

What did you want to be when you "grew up?" Are you doing what you thought you'd be doing? Are you happy with how your life has turned out? Recently, I read a very insightful post by a young woman, 25, who posed these questions, kinda in the same way. I guess it is hard "finding" yourself at that age. I know. I have a daughter nearly 20, who is just now going through that. It's hard. Trying to find what you like to do and get paid for it. When I was little I wanted to be an actress when I grew up. I even took Drama class in middle school and LOVED IT! I loved my teacher, Mr. Lopez and all the fun we had. I played the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland as well as her sister Sarah. It was great pretending to be someone else. I was always drawn to the crazy, unconventional characters. Hmmm. Go figure. But my dream got shattered when my grandma told me "good girls" can't become successful actors.They aren't respected and most young girls are oft...

Super Saturdays {Old Treasures}

I love a good deal. No. Strike that. I love a great deal. I am lucky that my town has so many funky little shops that I can find these great deals of which I speak of. I think I've mentioned before how much I love the Antique Company Mall in downtown McKinney. It is a charming mall filled to the brim with treasures! This Saturday, I took the little guy and my mom shopping there while my two big guys were off shooting somewhere in East Texas (they had a blast, by the way, get it? BLAST!) While we looked around I took my mom to my favorite booths. These are the booths that I have found to have the best deals with the nicest merchandise. One booth is kept up by this lady who just has this eye for vintage clothing! Yes, vintage clothing! There are some gorgeous wedding gowns for $36!!(that I almost bought to resell on ebay) Annnnnd of course I found a really cute bolero shirt and skirt! These were a steal at only $10 and $16 respectively. I know these aren't vintage, but they ar...

***giveaway closed*** I have to confess... for over 18 years I've had a love affair with this Jafra Products I've been a consultant with Jafra for over 18 years! My mom uses it, my grandma uses it and I use it! It's the longest I've ever been at a "job". HA! So what better to give away than my most favorite products? I have been using the Jafra Hair care line for over a year now. Specifically this This detox shampoo makes my hair look and feel shiny and smell wonderful! Cleans, protects, strengthens and shines. So I thought I'd let one of you lovelies win a hair care pack from JAFRA! (you can shout Hurray now!) Foodie Fridays {EZ Calzones}

Wanna make something Then you might want to gather up the ingredients for my EZ Pepperoni Calzones! ½ cup chopped onion ½ cup diced green bell pepper 1 can (8 oz) spaghetti sauce 2 pkgs of Pie Crust or pizza crust (yields 8) 1 garlic clove, pressed 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 package pre-cooked pepperoni Pre heat oven to 400 degrees and then get ready to bake! On a large baking sheet take one package of the pie crust and roll it out into a circle Using a pizza cutter, cut through the middle so you have two semi circles. Take some of the mozzarella cheese and sprinkle on both halves.   Do not spread it too much to the edges, keep it in the middle. You don’t want the ingredients To spill out while baking. On a cutting board, chop onion and bell pepper. Press the garlic. Put into mixing bowl. Pour in the spaghetti sauce. Mix it all in the bowl. Take your pre-cooked sliced pepperoni and place on the...
