Make Pretty Flower Cabochon Earrings

It has been a CRAZY week here in our household.
Why are the last few weeks of the school year this way?
It seems like the teachers are trying to cram in as much as possible before the
kids get out for the summer.
Last minute projects, outdoor concerts, band competitions, end of year parties.
Whew!
It makes me tired just writing about it.
It's gotten to the point that my craftin' has taken a
back seat to every day life.
And that just isn't ok with me. Know what I mean?
:)
So, here we are on a weeknight and I have been perusing the latest fashion magazines for ideas on how to pose my
clients for my photography business.
You can see my portfolio at Patricia Martinez Photography
I love looking at all the new fashions especially the jewelry.
I saw a very pretty pair of earrings that are all the rage but the price tag would drive my husband into a rage if I were to buy them!
What's a girl to do then?
Make them herself :)
So here's what you'll need:
Pair of turquoise colored flower cabochon buttons
Super glue (clear)
earring backs (I chose posts, you can get the clip on kind if you want)
blingy strips-"cup chain strands" I used the thicker ones. (mine had a little circle hoop that was useful to glue to the back of the cabochon)

You can find all this at your local crafts store. I bought my supplies at Hobby Lobby.
First I prepared a good clean work surface where I could see clearly what I was doing and protected my table.
Then I took the blingy part and super glued it to the back of the cabochon.
I held it tight for about 15 seconds.
Then I let it sit for another 5 minutes.
It took me a good 4 tries to get them to stick!!
I don't know if it's just this glue or what but it wasn't
sticking together.
Finally I got it to hold and I added another
drop of the glue to the back of the cabochon where I put my earring back (post).

Let it sit while you do the next one.
After letting them cure for about an hour you can now wear your pretty new earrings!
See, now wasn't that simple?
And so pretty too.
I plan to make some more as soon as I find some coral colored ones.
Won't these look fab with pretty summer outfits?

Well, gotta go now.
I have to finalize the paperwork for my little guy who is off to
next month already!
Yikes! He is SUPER excited.
If you want to check out a summer camp in beautiful East Texas go to their page and look around.

I'll be back tomorrow with another pretty {EZ} jewelry project.
Hasta mañana :)

  2. Very nice, love simplicity, the shiny is great. Wonderful jewelry idea. Seems like they'd be fairly inexpensive to make, think two teenage grand daughters would love these. Next time I'm in craft store I'll be looking out for the supplies. Great post
. Glad you had a good break, you deserve it. Sometimes other things like your family, friends deserve to come first before your blog.
