Whirlwind Weekends

Lately
it seems like every Saturday is a whirlwind at our house. All the week's chores get done on Saturday. Laundry, cleaning the house, working on the backyard, gardening, running errands, playdates, swimming lessons, ay ya yay!!! I tell you, I can't wait till the summertime! {We are planning on taking a week long trip to Florida and I can't wait!! I can't wait to lie on a beach somewhere and just be.Sigh.}

For instance,
this past weekend my daughter, whom I call "My Girl" had an art thing downtown for our annual Art Walk. She was to draw on the sidewalk with chalk. Then they were to be judged and select a winner from all the entries (we have yet to hear from them to see who won?!)

So me and the boys moseyed on downtown (which if you haven't been to downtown McKinney, Texas, I urge you to come down, it is SO COOL). Not only did we check out the competition {some very talented artists}

but we stopped by my favorite antique mall. I love antiques!! I'm slowly passing on my love of antiques onto my boys (so far so good, hee hee) and we got to explore the many booths. I love to tell them all about typewriters and old timey things (gosh I'm not THAT old am I?! :-0 )

{heart these pillows}

 {I fell in love with this dresser and mercury glass jars}
 {I have a Raggedy Ann blanket from that same fabric my GMa made me when I was 7!!}
{swoon}

We love eating gelato at Paciugo's!

We like to stroll up and down the brick sidewalks and window shop.

There are some really neat shops downtown as well as some funky restaurants and artsy places.
There's even a magic shop and a meat market called Local Yokel where the owners are  actual cattle ranchers who sell their beef in this shop! How cool is that?

I also got really busy with spray painting a whole bunch of junk I had lying around all winter long.
I love it that I can take something that's considered junk, giving it a fresh coat of paint and voila! Pretty. Functional. Garden stuff :)

My next post is on
spray painting junk and Easter eggs.
Stay tuned.

  1. Hi there...I just popped in from At the Picket Fence and love your blog. We are interested in a lot of the same things. I've never been to McKinney, but I'm loving that downtown area and I think a trip should be in the near future. It's just a hop, skip and a jump from Houston. My favorite find of yours was the typewriter. I've been looking for a reasonably priced one. Most I've found have been out of my budget. I've added myself as your newest follower. Hope you pop in and see me soon! Happy Spring Ya'll from Houston!
