Yes, I am weird, but this fall weather with its crispness just makes me giddy and I find myself smiling all day!! Why can't it be like this all year???
So I try to hang on to this feeling for dear life. It started last night, I was taking down all my Halloween decorations from the mantle, then I found myself putting the vinyl on my white pumpkin Ellison bought me last week that I never carved, then I figured why not put it on display...hmmm...maybe on the mantle. But it needed a little something to balance it out. So I moved the large candlesticks to one side, put the little orange pumpkins (halloween side backwards) next to them, and plopped the white pumpkin on the wooden bowl. Then, I went and took my door decoration and brought it in.
I made a quick rearrangement and then decided it needed a little more. Something extra. A Banner!!!
Today I went to my home away from home *cough* Hobby Lobby and bought some felt, ric rac and fabric to make it. I was going to put it off until the weekend but tonight I was feeling crafty :)
I simply cut triangles out of the felt, used my Cricut Expression to cut out the letters that spelled Thanksgiving, and glued them on to the felt with my bottle of Mighty Mend it that I bought on clearance at CVS for 50 cents!! {That stuff is awesome!!!}
(Note: If you don't have a Cricut, you can buy cardstock letters at your local crafts store) Then I simply glued the ric rac around each triangle, punched a hole through each corner (with a little help from my pointy scissors) and strung some cording thru the back. I tied a few ribbons here and there and voila!!
Instant Gratification :D
The only thing I bought was the felt and ric rac. Total cost was about $5.00. I decided not to use the pretty fabric I bought but I am going to use it in my dining room soon!! Stay tuned!!
So simple yet so often overlooked. Life is beautiful. Be thankful. Give thanks everyday.
I've linked this project up on the following fantastic blogs!

ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great. Each element stands out so lovely from the wall. I like the ric rack border you chose for your banner.
