Mother's Day

Mother's day was great. Ellison made me her famous hot chocolate that rivals Starbucks any day!! She surprised me by getting me a mickey mouse mug so I can drink my favorite drink...you guessed it chocolate milk! She also made me a cool wooden tray that I will proudly display in my office. Aaron was so excited to show me his beautiful creation-a hand painted terra cotta pot with a pretty flower in it . But when he went to get it out of his backpack it was broken!! Oh no! He instantly started to blame Josh for breaking it. After I reassured him that it could be glued back together he calmed down a bit. Sergio made me, my sister and my mom some delicious fajitas with all the fixins'. Better than any restaurant if you ask me. My big guy Josh had a big hug and kiss for me. He always has a big hug for me after work and I love his hugs!! He is my sweetheart. The day before, we all went down to the mall to eat at our favorite eateries and for some shopping. Overall it was a good day. ...

New Blog Coming

After much pondering and reflection...I have decided a blog to record my memoirs. It will be copyrighted b/c I don't want to read about it someday in the future and be ripped off LOL So you can read a daily installment (hopefully) of my life growing up in the barrios of Laredo. Enjoy!

Young Women Medallion

Ellison at her table with a powerpoint slide show of her art work. Well on Wednesday Ellison received her Young Woman Medallion from church. It is the equivalent of the Eagle Scout. For four years Ellison has worked on many projects from collecting old cell phones to turn into cash and turn in the money as a donation to a dog shelter, to making a quilt, to making a painting to donate to a nursing home, she has been quite busy. We are proud of the young woman she has become, strong, independent, smart, beautiful, fun, funny, kind hearted, artistic, and in love. We are proud of the good choices she is making now that she is getting ready for college. I know that Heavenly Father has a good plan for her. She is so easy to talk to and will make a great missionary some day (even if she doesn't go on an "official" mission)

The Ants are back!

It seems that maybe I was a little to excited about my conquering those darned ants. They are back. I think the rain may have brought them into my house seeking refuge. Now they are in the gameroom too where Ellison sleeps!! So time to call in the experts. Anyone have a good pest control company to call in McKinney who won't rip me off? I can't remember the name of the company whose guy they sent out last winter. I really liked them.

Ant Farm!!

For the past month, Ellison has had to sleep in the game room because of an infestation of ants in her room!! These aren't your common every day ants. Until last winter I had no idea there were so many different types of ants. This is what I googled: Habitat, Food Source(s), Damage: Mouthparts are for chewing. Pharaoh ants are omnivorous, feeding on sweets (jelly, particularly mint apple jelly, sugar, honey, etc.), cakes and breads, and greasy or fatty foods (pies, butter, liver and bacon). Nests can be found outdoors and almost anywhere indoors (light sockets, potted plants, wall voids, attics, in any cracks and crevices) particularly close to sources of warmth and water. Pest Status: The most commonly occurring indoor ant in Texas; in hospitals, it can be a carrier of more than a dozen pathogenic bacteria including Staphylococcus, Salmonella, Pseudomonas and Clostridium; these ants do not sting or and usually do not bite. It all started with a visit from my grandmother. She was s...

Easter Fun! 2009

This Easter weekend we went to my brother in law's Jody's farewell party at his parents'. They live out in Anna, in a beautiful 100 acre property. They have cattle and a fishing lake, a beaver dam, etc. It was so much fun! The kids got to fish and pop fireworks. I got a tour of the country and go to meet several "neighbors" along the way. It was a great time. On Sunday, we went to church and upon returning home I made lasagna and we read some scriptures. I have a Children's Bible that I read from to Aaron with pictures and simpler words so he can understand what I am talking about. I read to him some stories about the Savior and how He did not get "killed" but lovingly gave His life for us. It is important that my children understand that Jesus chose to give up his life for us and that it wasn't taken from Him. What a wonderful Sunday. As we read the scriptures I could feel the Spirit very strong in our home. We are praying for another mission...

Adventure Landing Fun

Last weekend was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday. My nieces had their birthday party early since their dad will be leaving for the Army soon. They had their celebration at Adventure Landing. This is a place that has laser tag, putt putt, go carts and bumper boats. We've had our kids' birthday parties here in the past and it's lots of fun. The kids all got to eat cake (2 cakes) and play video games, earn tickets for prizes then go outside and enjoy the sunshine! I love having fun outside. I can't believe how quickly time flies. My nieces are turning 7 and 9 this summer! Pretty soon they'll be young ladies and we'll be partying with teenagers. It's great to be able to blog about this and scrapbook all these fun memories. Happy early birthday Vivian and Victoria :)
