Home Office Redo-Chalk Paint and Boho

Home Office Redo-Bedroom to Home Office I have been living in this apartment for about two years and so far I love it here!  It's a cute area with so many conveniences! I also have been working from home for about six months along with my husband.  However, I have decided to redo this room and turn it into a cute, boho, zen area for work and working out plus meditation. Follow along to see how I achieve this! First off, here is what it looks like currently: I have the monitor and laptop on a vintage 1940s desk that I bought for $80 back in 2013 I painted it a beautiful grey with white drawer fronts that I crackled. It is looking dated and just needs a nice facelift I love using Annie Sloan brand Chalk Paint because it has no odor and it's easy for me to work with.  I used to have a furniture flipping and restoration business 10 years (or so) ago and I used that paint a lot. I bought Pure White and some clear wax and got to work. First I had to remove the drawer handles an...

Desk Transformation-Drab to Fab

As you may have noticed, I am really into refinishing furniture! I love taking an old, drab piece and painting new life into it. The look of happiness on my clients' faces is priceless. I usually paint using a major chalk paint brand.  This time I was sent a full size sample of the new Mud Paint in Manor White.  I loved it!     This is not a chalk based paint and is acrylic based so I did notice somewhat of an odor but not too bad. I like the way it spread and the finish was beautiful. It does go a long way and I decided to add a little bit of water to make it go further.  It is a bit less expensive than my normal go-to chalk paint but there are not retailers in my area so the shipping fees do add up.  I normally buy my paint locally. I decided to purchase an additional sample size of Manor White to do a chair and a sample of the Charcoal. So pretty.  Here are some before and afters:  (please excuse the blurry ...

{Junk Transformation-Media Center}

As usual, I leave everything until the last minute. For a year now I've been wanting to transform this piece (of junk) into a modern masterpiece :)  So in a matter of days I prepped, primed and painted this old dresser so it could make it's debut on Christmas Eve.  I got it a year ago from someone who was going to throw it away. I saw a great potential for it but it has been in my garage since then. I finally convinced my hubby to bring it in already so I could (be forced) to start it. I went back and forth on how I wanted to paint it: distressed with chalk paint, sanded and stained, a combo of both or --- use this awesome new paint I discovered! Modern Masters-Warm Silver. It took a while for me to come up with the cash and the retailer to finally make up my mind. But boy, oh boy, am I sure glad I did.  Here is the before: As you can see, it was nothing to write home about. Pretty drab and 1980s-ish. But like I said, I had imagined it to be m...

Kitchen Table Revival! Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Tutorial

Hello to all my sweet friends! Can you believe the summer is almost over> Well, here in Texas it's still in the 100's so it's going to be summer for a long time still. Have I mentioned how much I hate the heat? Well, I hate the heat. But I love the lazy days. Having the kids stay up late playing scrabble with me, sleeping in late and enjoying a nice  breakfast and having funny conversations, will now be replaced by hurried evenings and hurried mornings. :( But life goes on, right? And speaking of life, my daughter is doing great with her fiancee and my beautiful little granddaughter in their new apartment.  As part of a gift to them, I bought them a nice kitchen table and some vintage wooden chairs. My plan was to revive them with Annie Sloan Chalk paint then do some light distressing.  The kitchen table had a pretty bad paint job. There were several coats of horrible yellow paint on it. My hubby stripped the top of it and decided to stain it. ...

My Little French Dresser

Ok so I'm hooked on chalk paint. And here's why: Little French Dresser Before:   Really cute but looks a little dated and with a laminate top, and painting it with other than chalk paint was going to be a major pain. So of course, I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. This time in the beautiful Provence shade :) I love it. I opted to leave the original hardware because I love the way it makes the piece "pop". I can't wait to get my hands on my daughter's dresser. I have a great idea for it. It's a piece from the 1950s. :D Oh, by the way. The winner of the Annie Sloan Book "Creating the French Look" is Jeannette!! Jeannette please contact me via email to give me your address so I can ship out your prize. The rest of you, don't step away from my blog for too long ;) I have an awesome giveaway for September. Have a great week! It's back to school time y'all. Patty  linking to: Between Na...
