Recently Ellison's art work was submitted to a regional VASE judging contest. I got this from the MISD website. Ellison received a medal for her art. And although she did not go to state THIS year, we are so very proud of her accomplishments. Only a few students were selected to compete in VASE and she was one of them.
Once we get her art work back, we'll post a pic of it.
MISD Art Students Receive Medals at VASE Competition
Six students advance to the state competition
PLANO - On Saturday, Feb. 23, art students from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School participated in the Region 10N Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) with their artwork and won several individual awards. A total of six students from McKinney Boyd High School and McKinney High School advanced to the state competition which is scheduled to be held at the University of Houston's Clear Lake Campus on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13.
Students participating in the VASE competition are required to submit artwork created in art classes, and then engage in an interview/critique with a certified juror who evaluates the work based on a standards based rubric. The judging process also involves the student defining their understanding of the processes involved in the development of the artwork.
In addition to the students that advanced to the state competition, several McKinney ISD high school art students also received medals and a superior rating of "IV" for the combined scores of the interview and artwork evaluation.
