Today, we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. We decided to go out and explore a new-to-us steakhouse-Dakota's in Dallas.
Now, if you haven't used the OpenTable app to make reservations, you are missing out.
I love that we can save our favorite places and make quick reservations.
The app also provides you with the location, directions, reviews and the menu.
It will show you the dress code and let you communicate with the restaurant.
If you want to simplify your reservation situation, get the Open Table app!
After we made our reservation, we happily anticipated our dinner date.
Our time slot was reserved for 5:45 p.m. on a Saturday evening and let me tell you, traffic was horrid!
It's gotten to be so bad with all the construction everywhere.
But, I digress. We arrived fashionably late (15 minutes) while Dakota's graciously held our table. I had contacted them via the app and let them know we were running late.
Everything was perfection!
If you've never been to this steakhouse it is under ground. There's a special story tied to this. Apparently, in the old days, this place was owned by First Dallas Baptist Church and a clause in the deed prohibited any future owner from selling alcohol on site.
From the white table cloths to the dimly lit dining room with a piano player in the back ground, we knew we had made the right choice to come celebrate here.
Our server introduced himself and offered the wine list and cocktail menu.
We opted for some cocktails that were yummy.
We selected the pork belly with pickled gooseberries and apple miso to start along with ceasar salads.
The pork belly was delectable and melts in your mouth.
The saltiness of the pork belly's crisp skin melded wonderfully with the slightly acidic pickled gooseberries, while the apple miso provided a crisp crunch.
The ceasar salad was delicious as well.
For our main dishes, we selected the 8 oz filet mignon for myself and my husband opted for the 14 oz NY Strip. The sides included sweet, carrots sprinkled with chestnuts and a delicious potato puree with gruyere cheese.
The steaks were cooked to perfection and every bite melts in your mouth.
Service was impeccable throughout, with our server and the maitre'd checking on us unobtrusively.
For dessert, I ordered a cappuccino and the pumpkin creme brulee
We were happily surprised by the chef sending us a tasty dessert treat that had a graham and ice cream melange with some dulce de leche.
Needless to say that I had half of my meal boxed up, including the creme brulee because we were so full!
Afterall, what's better than left overs after a fine dining experience, right?
Our bill came in right around $280 for both of us and we deduced that was absolutely worth it!
We will certainly be back for more dinner celebrations and will bring our family next time!
Dakota's was a perfect, fine dining experience in the heart of uptown Dallas.
