How is the month going for you guys so far? We are getting
into the swing of things with homeschooling for my 5th grader and public school for my high school guy.
It's been a few weeks since my little guy turned 11.
I tell ya, it was hard to plan around a them once they get a little older.
So upon consulting with the birthday boy, it was decided that his theme would be Percy Jackson.
He made up a small list of invites. His closest buddies were sent the attached invite:
We decided our evening would go like this:
First meet up at our favorite pizza joint to eat
followed by going to the movie Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters
then back home for cake and presents
The boys had such a great time!
The movie was pretty good and clean :)
For party favors, I made the boys some t-shirts with the Camp Half Blood logo and
made them some personalized water bottles. I found the bottles and t-shirts at Michaels.
The bottles are BPA free and only $1 each!
Score!!!
The t-shirts were about $3 a piece.
Better than giving them a bag of candy, huh?
This is how I made the the shirts:
First I found a logo from the author's website. I saved it and put it into publisher so I could manipulate the background to make it white.
I didn't want it to print out orange onto the iron on.
Pretty much any iron on package will do, but I had bought one at Wal-Mart about a year ago by Hanes and it came with a code to their web design site.
So easy!
After I uploaded my logo unto the t-shirt site, I printed it on regular paper and eye balled it to make sure the size was right.
I wanted the logo to appear on the upper left chest area.
Then I printed one logo onto the iron on sheet and pressed it onto a test t-shirt [shhh don't tell my husband]
When I was satisfied I bit the bullet and printed the first batch. Since I only had about 4-5 shirts to do it didn't take that long.
Here's a tip about ironing on anything:
I did the ironing on my bathroom floor tile!
The package said to use a hard surface. I simply placed the t-shirt over it and used an old iron I had on hand, just in case.
It worked beautifully.
The other party favor was the water bottle. I bought the bottles in orange since I had some white vinyl on hand.
I got to work on my Cricut, using the Sure Cuts a Lot software, measured my surface and hit cut.
It looks great!
I did all this the night before the party!
The bottles had a small tag tied around them that looked like this:
We all had a ball.
