The end of Spring Break!!

Well as Spring Break came to a close, the kids and I did some yard work YAHOO!!

It was time to do some weeding and some mowing. Nothing like good old fashioned yard work to break a sweat! And it was warm both on Friday and Saturday....but also absolutely beautiful.

Friday we went to see Horton Hears a Who...it was very funny.

SNAKE!

Today while Sergio was in the garage and getting ready to go work, he found a baby snake! And of course he brought it in to show us all! He thinks it's either a garden snake or a rat snake. He mentioned that the mom is probably nearby....EEKK!!!

I hope I don't find her. Sergio mentioned that earlier Ellison was sitting right next to where he found this baby snake.

Take a look at it. Ellison says it's cute.

Ellison gets Art Medal!

Recently Ellison's art work was submitted to a regional VASE judging contest. I got this from the MISD website. Ellison received a medal for her art. And although she did not go to state THIS year, we are so very proud of her accomplishments. Only a few students were selected to compete in VASE and she was one of them.

Once we get her art work back, we'll post a pic of it.
MISD Art Students Receive Medals at VASE Competition

Six students advance to the state competition

PLANO - On Saturday, Feb. 23, art students from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School participated in the Region 10N Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) with their artwork and won several individual awards. A total of six students from McKinney Boyd High School and McKinney High School advanced to the state competition which is scheduled to be held at the University of Houston's Clear Lake Campus on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13.

Students participating in the VASE competition are required to submit artwork created in art classes, and then engage in an interview/critique with a certified juror who evaluates the work based on a standards based rubric. The judging process also involves the student defining their understanding of the processes involved in the development of the artwork.

In addition to the students that advanced to the state competition, several McKinney ISD high school art students also received medals and a superior rating of "IV" for the combined scores of the interview and artwork evaluation.

BOWLING YESSSS!!!

Ever since Sergio's Birthday last Tuesday, Aaron has been wanting to go bowling! So this morning he came to our bedroom and said "Today is bowling place day". At first, I didn't know what he was talking about and after having him repeat it three more times, I finally understood what he was saying (I am a little slow in the mornings, can ya tell) Anywho, his wish is our command and we went down to the Plano Super Bowl and had ourselves a great time. The first round Sergio won and the second round Josh won!! Aaron was just happy to roll the ball and hit a few pins every now and then. But even so, he still managed to beat mom the first time and we were tied on the last round! We had a great time.

Movie Night

So since I was home all day today, Sergio and I decided to go to the movies as soon as the kids got home from school. Sergio has been wanting to see 10,000 B.C. since it was first announced. If you know the Martinez clan, you know we are SERIOUS movie buffs. So we climbed on the truck and headed to the movie theater. Sad to say we were disappointed. It was really kind of boring. Ellison proclaimed it a "rental" movie. Oh well, we still had fun going to the movies. Aaron loves the whole movie experience...getting the popcorn, soda and candy. Our next movie to go watch will be Horton hears a who...It looks cute.

This is my first blog post and I am still getting the hang of it. Ellison is the html expert here, so she will be helping me a LOT!!

PS I like to lurk in others' blogs for ideas :)
